2021 Snowman Festival

February 14-28, 2021

Celebrate winter and snow in Morinville! 

The Snowman Festival offers a variety of fun activities, planned with safety and restrictions in mind and is spread over a wonderful, wintery two weeks!

Snowman Search Contest

Visit the Morinville Fish and Game Pond Trails to search for snowmen along the path. Labeled on the snowmen you will find key words that will make up a snowman themed phrase. Complete or print the Snowman Search Contest Form. Fill in the key words and decipher the phrase and submit the form to be entered into a draw to win a $100 prepaid VISA donated by Putnam Law! Contest runs February 14-28, 2021. If you choose to print the Contest Form, email the completed form to events@morinville.ca.

Take & Make Snowman Painting Kit with Virtual Instruction

Pick up a kit and join Sarah Hall from the Morinville Art Club for a virtual painting experience creating a winter work of art. The kit contains all supplies needed to make a snowman painting are available while quantities last, one kit per person.

Kits are FREE and available for pickup:

Take & Plant Tomato Kit with Virtual Instruction

Pick up a kit and join Alice and Michelle from the Morinville Centennial Community Gardens Society to learn everything you need to know and do to grow a tomato plant from seed to transplanting outdoors. Kits are available while quantities last, one kit per person.

Virtual Instruction will remain online to allow flexibility to plant your tomato kit. It is recommended to plant your seeds at the end of February.

*You will need water, a small container such to hold the peat pellet, and larger container for transplanting. In the spring, your tomato plant should be transferred to a 2/3 gallon pot to live outside. 

Virtual Snowman Story Time & Craft Bags

A variety of snowman themed stories will be read by the Friends of the Morinville Community Library during their virtual story time. They will also have FREE craft bags available via curbside pick up starting February 16, while quantities last. Book a curbside pick up for craft bags.

Snow & Ice Creation Contest

Build a snowman, an ice sculpture, paint the snow or a frozen sun catcher. Get creative with snow and ice any way you like, and send a photo to events@morinville.ca to be entered into a draw win a $100 Gift Card from a Morinville retailer of your choice, donated by Morinville Online! Contest runs February 14-28, 2021.

DIY Sugar Shack

The Association Canadienne-Française de L'Alberta will provide bilingual online instruction to show how to create a sugar shack at home. It is easy to do and a delicious French-Canadian treat. Items needed from home are packed snow, maple syrup, a candy thermometer, a pot, and a spoon or popsicle stick, (any stick type item to eat from).

Snowman Neighbourhood Visits

Morinville’s own snowman will be visiting neighbourhoods bringing winter cheer to the community. Neighbourhood visits are subject to weather conditions. Please view the zone map for neighbourhood locations.

Snowman Mad Lib

Fill in the Snowman Mad Lib and enjoy the silliness of what your story becomes. Share Mad Lib stories between family and friends.

Unplug to Plug In Family Challenge

Family and Community Support Services wants to challenge your family to unplug from electronics and enjoy quality family time together. Have each family member suggest a family activity, perform the activity and after the fun take a family photo together and post it. #morinvilleunplugs

Thank you to the community groups who have partnered with the Town of Morinville to bring a variety of activities to the festival. Friends of the Morinville Community Library, Morinville Art Club, Morinville Centennial Gardens Society and the Association Canadienne-Française de L'Alberta. Thank you to the Morinville Clinic Adult Day Support Program for craft and activity preparation.
